“What Does a Chiropractor Treat?”

This is a question that we get all the time from new patients at the clinic!

Chiropractor’s are registered primary health practitioners trained in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. At Fortitude all our Chiropractors have completed 5 year double bachelor degrees at Murdoch University, Perth.

Musculoskeletal conditions simply means conditions affecting the muscular and skeletal systems of the human body. This includes the bones, joints and muscles of the spine and the rest of the body.

What Does a Chiropractor treat most commonly?

Chiropractors are often considered to treat mainly spinal or spine related problems. Neck, lower back and middle back pain are definitely common issues that we deal with.

Problems originating in the spine, such as some headaches and sciatica or nerve pain are also commonly treated in our clinic.

These are  some of the most common problems that chiropractors treat:

  • Neck pain
  • Wry Neck & Torticollis
  • Cervical (neck) disc injuries
  • Neck related headaches
  • Postural tension
  • Upper and mid back pain
  • Rib joint sprains and strains
  • Lower back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Muscle strains
  • Lumbar (lower back) disc protrusions and herniations

Do Chiropractors treat other areas?

Yes! Our chiropractors often treat other various joint and muscular problems, not just the spine.

Upper body issues are often associated with repetitive strain related to work or sport. We treat many common shoulder problems including impingement, rotator cuff injuries, tendintis/tendinopathy. Elbow conditions such as tendontis, golfers and tennis elbow are also seen frequently in our office, as well as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and other conditions causing wrist pain.

Our team is also highly experienced in treating lower body conditions of the hip, knee and ankle. We often help with hip bursitis and osteoarthritis, jumpers knee and tendon pain, patella-femoral pain syndrome and even ACL, meniscus and collateral ligament injuries. Ankle sprains and plantar fasciitis are also commonly treated at our clinic.

Is there anything that your Chiropractors don’t treat?

At Fortitude Chiropractic, we focus on musculoskeletal (muscle & joint) conditions. This means that we generally don’t treat patients for issues such as indigestion, reflux, sinusitis and immune system issues.
