As the year wraps up, now is the perfect time to check your private health insurance. Many of our patients don’t realise that their extras cover resets at the start of the year meaning if you don’t use your remaining benefits, they’ll soon expire.

At Fortitude Chiropractic, we often see patients who discover too late that they’ve left their rebates unused. So, before the year ends, take a few minutes to check your cover and plan ahead for 2026.

When Do Private Health Extras Reset?

For most private health funds, extras like Chiropractic, Remedial Massage, and Dental reset on January 1st each year. Once that happens, your limits renew and you can start using your new benefits right away.

However, not every fund follows the same calendar. For example, AHM and Defence Health reset on July 1st, following the financial year instead. Therefore, it’s always worth double-checking your fund’s rollover date to avoid missing out and stayng on top of your health fund reset.

What to Review Before the New Year

Before booking your next appointment, it’s a good idea to review your:

  • Cover Reset Date – Does your policy renew on January 1st or July 1st?
  • Chiropractic Coverage – Is chiropractic care included in your extras cover?
  • Rebate Usage – Have you used your remaining benefits for 2025?

You can find this information easily through your health fund’s app, online account, or by giving them a quick call. Once you’ve checked, now is the perfect time to use your health care extras before they expire!

Why It’s Worth Using Your Benefits Now

Using your remaining private health rebates isn’t just about saving money, it’s an investment in your wellbeing. Regular chiropractic care can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support your posture and overall recovery.
